Nursing is a health care profession that is pursued by a large number of men and women around the world. In the United States, the demand for nurses has been steadily increasing and almost each state offers numerous nursing jobs in various specialized fields. The state of California provides a number of opportunities to fresh as well as experienced working nurses in the healthcare industry. This can be in a hospital, private care facility, as a private nurse or as a home health care nurse.

There are about 600 hospitals located throughout the state of California. Many hospitals require full time registered nurses to work as Clinical Care Coordinators for different hospital programs. The CCC works together with the hospital care team and organizes the patient care process, right from supervising their admission, to their discharge. Such a position gives the CCC a unique opportunity being a patient caretaker and also an administrator.

California travel nurse jobs are among one of the highest paying nursing jobs in the country. The state requires ICU/CCU, ER, Medical Surgery and Telemetry Nurses. Throughout CA, there are, a number of traveling nursing assignments. Many aspiring nurses are attracted towards this field because of the competitive pay, cash bonuses, opportunity of traveling to different places across the state and other benefits.

California has widened the avenues for nursing jobs to overcome the shortage for nurses faced by different cities within the state. There are many medical employment services, that help experienced as well as fresh nursing graduates, find suitable nurse jobs in California. There is also a unique opportunity of employment as a travel nurse, wherein the nurses agree to be temporarily re-located to different regions and earn a considerable income. There are many Web sites that help people find available nursing positions in different cities of California.

As the sun of a retired nurse of more than thirty (30) years in service to patients (private, corporate and public) throughout Los Angeles County; I am sensitive to the issues nurses face, particularly with regard to employment opportunities. Although nursing professionals, unlike other industry professionals who face challenges such as high unemployment rates, work in an industry with increasing demand for qualified workers – it is not surprising that many nurses still find it challenging to enjoy the benefit of working for medical providers who sincerely value the quality of service and sacrifice nurses make to deliver the best care to patients. Considering the number of dedicated hours many nurses obligate themselves to employers, most find it incredibly challenging when trying to balance work, home, family and healthy life styles.

Recently, I was speaking to a friend of a friend who works full time in Los Angeles, as an RN, has two children who attend private school in Long Beach, and has recently relocated her residence to Orange County. As you can imagine her daily commute, along with other challenges that affect her bottom line – finances – is more than frustrating. Moreover, although she has made many attempts to seek employment with providers closer to her new residence, which would allow for more flexibility, the hours required at her current job in Leos Angles makes for very limited opportunities to secure employment opportunities closer to home and her childcare’s school. On top of all that, she’s a single parent! As I sat there listening to her many challenges I suddenly recalled meeting an industry professional who has helped many nurses and other healthcare professionals secure employment opportunities that better suite individuals like my friend’s friend – the RN.

Naturally, as a consultant who is sensitive to the needs of dedicated nursing professionals (like my mom), I asked my friend’s friend (the RN) if she had an updated resume I could take with me and forward to someone I recently met who I believed would be able to help. The next morning, I called my associate, Stacey Hudson, explained the situation this particular nurse was facing and asked if she could possibly help. Immediately, Stacey asked if there was a resume she could look at. Of course I said, “yes there was” and I immediately faxed the resume over to her attention. Within an hour Stacey called me back and indicated she could help my friend’s friend (the RN)! I called my friend’s friend (the RN) and left a voice mail message about the good news. Long story short: My friend’s friend is now working in Long Beach, closer to her new home and her childcare’s school – saving time and money, which has also allowed her to accept temporary contract employment with other medical/health care providers in the local area!

As a result of helping a friend’s friend (the RN), I’ve been receiving resumes from nurses and case managers from all over Leos Angles and Orange Counties, and forwarding them to my new trusted associate Stacey Hudson (an industry hiring executive with many valuable contacts) throughout Orange County, Long Beach and Leos Angles. Due to her hectic schedule, as Vice President of her organization, Stacey has asked me to share this story with others who find themselves faced with similar challenges as my friend’s friend (the RN). It is true; It’s not so much what you know, but who you know. But it’s what you know that keeps you there.

If you, or someone you know in the industry, needs a resume forwarded to my associate ‘on the inside’, please trust that my sensitivity to career nursing professionals, like my mother, will cause me to help bridge the gap. All the best, and thank you for providing the quality service(s) and making the dedicated sacrifices you do on behalf of patients and medical/health care provider employers industry wide.

Sincerely,
